Education

Afraz completed his Medical School Prerequisites, as well as additional healthcare coursework, during his undergraduate career. When not in the classroom, Afraz shadowed/volunteered at the Yale New Haven Hospital. Relevant course work includes Human Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, Inorganic & Organic Chemistry, Physics, Behavioral Sciences, and others.


Cardiology

While Afraz has explored many areas of healthcare, he has a particular passion for Interventional Cardiology. He has spent over 500 hours of his volunteering time with cardiologists and in catheterization labs at Yale New Haven Hospital. His love for the specialty stems from the nature of the heart. "It is the where the crossroads between life & one's soul" as Afraz puts it. Afraz has mentioned an interest in heart surgery, though, has not concluded stated he'll pursue it.


Administration

With a strong business background, Afraz has noticed a lack of full service administration in the area of healthcare and delivery. Through various advisory and consulting roles, Afraz has reinvigorated organizational effectiveness & overall operation. As a Project Manager for Top Healthcare Networks, Afraz helped structure different areas of work with proper horizontal and vertical integrations. His involvement with Top Healthcare was responsible for a 300% business growth.


Innovation

As a result of Afraz's longstanding work in the area of software, naturally, he believes that the healthcare industry can benefit greatly from dedicated technologies. He has built Eligibility, EMR, PharmaConnect, & other applications for hundreds of clinics and offices. In addition, Afraz has worked with providers and payers to deliver seamless billing experiences. His love for combining technology and healthcare has driven his research & some publications.

In contemporary society, nations across the globe have attempted to create high quality healthcare systems that are economically viable. Without regard to any political or economic system, there is one commonality: consumers of healthcare services expect a "standard" of quality in the services they receive. The United States continues to debate the provision of services and the payment for such services, notwithstanding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”). Quality, however, is subject to costs and finances of applicable models. This study dives deeper into the following questions as well as others.

  • 1. Which healthcare models do a good job with a balanced economy?
  • 2. Does the quality of medical services provided result as an affect of their respected financial setups?
  • 3. What strategies, techniques, and practices are the best to control healthcare finances in the economy while delivering an acceptable level of quality, expectancy, and certainty?
